While people often say, “I am thinking of starting a nonprofit,” they would be joining a robust sector with more than 14,000 in St. Louis. Before going down this path, there are key questions to consider. If you already lead or work for a nonprofit, there are best practices to learn that can help your organization flourish and achieve greater impact.

Dr. Susan K. Hewitt, curator of the new resource “Building a Strong NP” will lead participants through all scenarios for helping a new or existing nonprofit flourish.

Susan’s diverse and accomplished career includes currently serving on two nonprofit boards and coaching individuals in ministry. In 2011, she founded the nonprofit UpWorks, dedicated to training and connecting Christian volunteers with individuals transitioning from addiction and incarceration to employment. Serving as Executive Director until 2019, Susan’s role brought her great fulfillment as she witnessed the transformation of those who had faced significant life challenges. A 1983 computer science graduate of St. Cloud State, Susan spent several years in computer systems development before answering the call in 1998 to enter full-time ministry. To enhance her qualifications, Susan completed a Master of Arts in Christian Outreach at Concordia University, St. Paul, Minn. in 2006. and a Doctor of Education in Organizational Leadership with a specialization in Christian Ministry in 2020.
