Description:

After last fall’s training focused on encouraging participants to think about their sacred places as community assets, this follow-up workshop will move from high-level insights to real-life examples. Rev. Ed Zumwinkel III, Webster Groves Presbyterian Church, will share the congregation’s story of working with Partners for Sacred Spaces. He will highlight what precipitated the conversation, the process through which they worked, and the transformation that has taken place — ending with a tour of the reimagined space.

Ed is a St. Louis native whose faith formation began at St. Mark Presbyterian Church, Ballwin, Mo., where he was ordained as a Deacon at age 15. After high school, Ed graduated from Missouri State University with a Bachelor of Science in marketing. He then joined Xerox Corp. in sales. After six years, he sensed a call to youth ministry, leaving his corporate position to earn a Master of Divinity from Eden Theological Seminary, Webster Groves, Mo. In his first call after seminary, Ed served for nine years as associate pastor at Glendale Presbyterian Church with a focus in youth ministry. He next served as pastoral assistant for youth ministry at Woodlawn Chapel Presbyterian Church before becoming co-pastor at Hope United Church of Christ in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood. He became Head of Staff at Webster Groves Presbyterian Church in 2015.
