Celebrate the Work of the Holy Spirit
Let's join together in giving thanks to God for the work of the Spirit through the many people that joined in, the events on and around Lutheran Give A Day, Get A Day on February 20th. Send Me St. Louis distributed over 530 T-shirts for participants We are aware of over 36 congregation or organizations that hosted events. We continue to tally the individuals that volunteered independently of their congregations. God is good, all the time!
Celebrate an Attitude of Gratitude
It isn't just about numbers! More important is how volunteering grows individuals in their personal relationship with the Lord.
As an example there was a family of 12 who signed up to volunteer at St. Matthew in order to receive the Disney tickets. Here they were greeted warmly and thanked sincerely. The family learned of a future day of volunteering at St. Matthew's and asked if they could return. When one of the members was asked why they felt moved to return she shared. On arriving Saturday morning at St. Matthew she picked up pamphlet from the back of the sanctuary. The pamphlet flipped open in her hands to the word GRATITUDE.
A ticket to a theme park may have been the tool the Spirit used to invite this family to St. Matthew. However, the recognition of God's blessings in their lives is what will bring them back to continue sharing His love with others.
